Value distribution and markets for social justice in global value chains: Interdependence relationships and government policy

Global value chains are highly prone to distortions in distribution among participants. Their global fragmentation and relational governance undermine the effectiveness of regulatory intervention amending these distortions. In this paper, I propose a new mechanism administer that is tune with nature production systems. Building on interdependence theory, suggest interdependencies inherent co-specialized supply give participants power alter trade-offs between investment social causes economic gains incentivize socially desired behavior. show how logic manifests at varying levels GVC, including producing constituencies, governments, international organizations, as well civil society. These dynamics create markets for justice driven by relationships GVC operate simultaneously different scales. further posit value-distributing socially-constructed outline conditions determine outcomes. specify impact governments – activators, facilitators, or inhibitors transformative discuss their effectiveness.
